The FactFace Electoral Map: Obama Wins!

November 3, 2008

Prediction by Factface: What Will the Map Look Like?

Well, we are a day away from the election and FactFace is going to take a stab at the electoral map. We have decided to focus on the “toss up” and “leaning” states. Based upon the solid grassroots effort of the Obama campaign and the impressive ground game, we feel this election will be a popular and electoral vote landslide. Here is how we see it playing…

Obama will take: Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico. In addition, we believe he will take traditional red states; Indiana and Montana.

McCain will take: Ohio, Missouri, and North Dakota.

The final electoral count will be; Obama 347, McCain 191

There is a chance Obama could take Ohio too, but we are not feeling overly confident for Obama in this swing state. We feel McCain made a mistake throwing his resources in Pennsylvania the last couple weeks and should have focused on Michigan while praying he could get good ground games out of 2004 Bush swing states.

Voter suppression, the Bradley Effect, and negative campaign tactics will not adversely factor into this election. Age and a poor VP pick will adversely effect McCain.

Bold call, FactFace – I hope you are mostly right. Given that Gore won both the electoral vote and the popular vote and Bush became president, there are very few outcomes (going either direction) that would surprise me.
