Article from CNN: ‘Lipstick on a Pig’: Attack on Palin or common line?

It is shit like this which gives the media a bad name. This is newsworthy? You are kidding me, right? And for the Republicans slash McCain to attack Obama for inferring Palin is a pig is outlandish. And for the Dems to respond in defense is equally ridiculous. Our politicians are a fucking embarrassment.

For you dumbasses out there, let me break down “lipstick on a pig” for you so there is no further confusion…

‘Lipstick on a pig’ is an idiom – not to be confused with “idiot.” An idiom is, as defined at Answers.com: “A speech form or an expression of a given language that is peculiar to itself grammatically or cannot be understood from the individual meanings of its elements, as in keep tabs on.

So what did Obama mean when he used this idiom? (one he and many other English speakers have used before, I might add). Obama was referring to the fact the McCain campaign is now using “Change” as part of their campaign mantra (hmmm, just like Obama). In essence, McCain is still the same old politician who supports the policies of Bush, but with the addition of “Change” in the diatribe, they have put “lipstick” (change) on a “pig.” (Bush politics)

What is so unlcear about this? Why is the media pandering to idiotic claims made by the republicans and how come the American people are not outraged by the behaviour of our so-called leaders?

And then the commentators piped in…

Patty says: “Just the same old, same old, obama’s campaign can say what they want, but anyone else can not. Remember obama said this, throwing rocks and hiding. His campaign has been doing this the whole time. They are sneaky. And why did his campaign send 30 lawyers, investigators etc to Alaska. More of the same. I think obama will do anything to win. Now he is trying to dig up trash on Sarah Palin. I don’t think it will work. It will backfire on him, as it has done already.”

I say: Patty, what the fuck are you talking about? This is politics, the same shit happens on both sides. Republicans are not immune to doing downright scandalous things to get their guy elected. And Obama wont have to dig deep to get shit on Palin. Here let me help…

Creationism, Anti-abortion even in the case of rape, God has a plan to win the war in Iraq. Enough said.

Steve says: “This is how Obama should respond: “I will not dignify Mr. McCain’s feigned outrage with a response. He should apologize to the American people for what he chooses to be outraged about. When he convenes an emergency conference call to express outrage about the number of uninsured Americans, about the deaths of both soldiers and civilians in Iraq, about the devastating consequences of Republican deregulation on the homeowners of America, then I will be happy to respond. Mr. McCain may want to stew about lipstick, but I am in this race to discuss the real problems that real people are having, and their solutions. This episodes show that Mr. McCain will do anything to distract us from his shameful record on issues that really matter.”"

I say: Nailed it.
