Is McCain Another George W. Bush?

Article written by Jack Cafferty at CNN: Is McCain Another George W. Bush?
On the whole I enjoyed this read. Jack has written a biased commentary regarding his fear McCain is just like George Bush. Although I personally do not feel McCain is anything like Bush, I do worry about the misperception of McCain being strong on foreign policy. All I have heard from McCain is the same “Bush-like” bullheaded rhetoric which conveys any issues will be dealt with his way and there is no room for diplomacy. It is what it is whether you like it or not. That is scary.
Two paragraphs near the end of the commentary was especially illuminating to me, as it really summed up what Bush has been about over the past eight years:
“George Bush’s record as a student, military man, businessman and leader of the free world is one of constant failure. And the part that troubles me most is he seems content with himself.
He will leave office with the country $10 trillion in debt, fighting two wars, our international reputation in shambles, our government cloaked in secrecy and suspicion that his entire presidency has been a litany of broken laws and promises, our citizens’ faith in our own country ripped to shreds. Yet Bush goes bumbling along, grinning and spewing moronic one-liners, as though nobody understands what a colossal failure he has been.”
This reminds me of the diatribe offered by Bill Maher about a year ago when he says something along the lines of Bush absolutely butchering the English language then walking off stage as if he “nailed it.” This guy truly is oblivious to his own legacy. Poor son-of-a-bitch. Poor us. I really can’t believe this guy won re-election in 2004. Who voted for this guy? You should be ashamed of yourself. In the very least apologize for your mistake. J
I must now retort to the comments of a reader named “Rob.”
Rob says: “You rightly complain that Bush was vacationing while battles raged in Georgia but you fail to mention that the leader you’ve picked to be our next President was also vacationing in Hawaii. Watch, someone as biased as you will make the case that Mr. Obama was in Hawaii so he’d be out of reach and couldn’t make a mistake commenting on a topic he has little expertise in…plus it would be difficult to set up the TelePrompters Mr. Obama relies on to make his memorable speeches.”
I say: Rob, I’m not sure if you thought about this before you posted, but Mr. Obama is not President of the United States. Contrary to popular belief it would be out of place for Mr. Obama to go head deep into the Georgia-Russia conflict, as it would for McCain. However, George W. Bush is President of the United States, and it is his responsibility to represent our position. Furthermore, you make an inference about Obamas experience, or lack thereof, and imply George Bush has experience with this particular issue. Firstly, if Bush is the poster child for “experience” then we are in some really deep shit. Wait, we are in deep shit, never mind. Secondly, I bet the odds are very good the first time George Bush heard of South Ossetia was the day Putin told him they invaded. Lastly, have you ever heard any of Obamas speeches? Or are you spewing out the same rhetoric the Right have been force-feeding you, that he is all talk, no action? Funny, he is the only candidate who communicates he will make mistakes as President and will need our help to make America a better place to live.
